Les\u00a0jumeaux sont appel\u00e9s V\u00e9navi\u00a0 au Togo et au Ghana,\u00a0Ib\u00e9ji\u00a0 au B\u00e9nin et au Nig\u00e9ria. De telles statuettes \u00e9taient port\u00e9es \u00e0 la ceinture, sous leur pagne, par les futures m\u00e8res pour prot\u00e9ger les jumeaux \u00e0 venir ou encore b\u00e9b\u00e9s en raison d\u2019un taux de mortalit\u00e9 infantile important. Et, si l\u2019un des deux jumeaux venait \u00e0 tr\u00e9passer, la statuette \u00e9tait alors consacr\u00e9e au cours d\u2019une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie et d\u00e9pos\u00e9e sur un autel familial et honor\u00e9e au m\u00eame titre que son jumeau vivant.<\/p>\n<p>Ce petit couple polychrome datant des ann\u00e9es 1970 a visiblement, au vu de l\u2019usure, \u00e9t\u00e9 ch\u00e9ri par sa
